ATOM GIRLS

The series focuses on four best friends who solve mysteries, fight crime, and save the world together – not with special powers they were each born with like most heroes, but with their intelligence in science, technology, engineering, and math.

ATOM Girls is a compelling and engaging property, keeping it full of fun while empowering girls to take an interest in fields that have been ‘boys clubs’ for far too long.

MEET AMINA

Name: Amina Singh.

Favorite Subject: Science baby!

Current Project: I’m mapping out my family tree. So many cousins!

Idol: Anandibai Joshi and Kadambini Ganguly, the first two Indian women to qualify as doctors. How cool is that?

Loves: Being in charge (really, it’s for the best), class presentations, and my adorable puppy, Butterscotch.

Hates: When my experiments blow up. Literally! It took two months for my eyebrows to grow back last time.

Strengths: I’m the best hall monitor at school, my day planner keeps me super organized, and I do the best funky chicken on the dancefloor.

Weaknesses: People say I’m bossy, but I have no idea what they’re talking about.

Ambition: I’m going to be a geneticist, just like my mom. You could say it runs in the family. Hah! Get it?

Secret: I got a B- once in a pop quiz. It still gives me nightmares.

MEET TIEGAN

Name: Tiegan Zhang.

Favorite Subject: Computer science. I’m a major tech-nerd.

Current Project: Sorry, but that’s classified. Strictly on a need-to-know basis.

Idol: The queen of code herself, Grace Hopper.

Loves: Writing computer code, reading sci-fi books, and playing video games way past bedtime. My gamer handle is TechGrl02 if you think you’re good enough to beat me.

Hates: Public speaking. I’m getting queasy just thinking about it.

Strengths: I’m good with computers and stuff. Mom says I could take over the world if I wanted to. Not in an evil genius way, of course.

Weaknesses: I’m socially awkward. Crowds and group settings give me hives. Yikes, now I’m itchy.

Ambition: I’m going to start my own tech company. Bill Gates and those other old dudes better watch out.

Secret: I may or may not have hacked into the school computers to read my report card early…

MEET OLIVIA

Name: Olivia Montgomery.

Favorite Subject: Engineering.

Current Project: I’m tinkering with my prosthetic leg. It needs a few upgrades.

Idol: Mae Jemison, obviously. Chemical engineering at Stanford, a doctor in the Peace Corps, and an astronaut. She carried out experiments IN SPACE!!!

Loves: Soccer (I play center forward), taking things apart and making them even better, and ROBOTS!

Hates: Bossy people, when my little sister tries to copy me, and the color pink. BARF!

Strengths: Figuring out how things work, and I make a mean chocolate cake.

Weaknesses: I lose my patience easy (Dad calls me a firecracker). Oh, and I’m late for everything. Whoops!

Ambition: I’m going to be an astronaut at NASA. Whoever said the sky’s the limit never met me.

Secret: That’s not how secrets work, you know.

MEET MOLLIE

Name: Mollie Grace Martínez.

Favorite Subject: Cheerleading! And if that doesn’t count, Math.

Current Project: Helping out with the big school dance. I’m in charge of the budget.

Idol: Beyoncé and Albert Einstein.

Loves: Sleepovers with all my friends, chocolate chip ice-cream, and solving algebraic equations. Oh, and anything pink and sparkly. :-)

Hates: People who aren’t team players. You can’t win cheerleading nationals by yourself.

Strengths: I’m outgoing, fun, and a bit of a class clown. Life’s too short to take things too seriously, you know?

Weaknesses: I still can’t do a back handspring without wobbling on the landing.

Ambition: I’m either going to be a famous singer, a fashion designer, or a stockbroker. A girl’s gotta keep her options open.

Secret: It was me who left the whoopee cushion on Mr. Stein’s chair. Don’t tell him!

MEET THE SIDEKICKS

SLIME BUDDIES

Not all experiments go exactly to plan. One minute Amina and Mollie were testing out what would happen if they mixed a bunch of different chemicals together and POOF! They accidentally concocted a crew of sentient slime buddies. These little guys help the girls out, and keep everything in order at ATOM Girls HQ. Each one has its own unique color and larger-than-life personality.

glitchy

Created as a joint project between Olivia and Tiegan, this adorable yet somewhat malfunctioning prototype was originally built to cheer up Mollie after she discovered she was allergic to dogs. It soon became clear that Glitchy was more than a cute little mechanical Corgi when she took control of the AI program installed inside her and began to make her own decisions. Luckily, she decided to stick around. Glitchy now fiercely protects the girls and helps them out when solving mysteries.

BOOK/TELEVISION / DIGITAL CONTENT

BOOK 1 / EPISODE 1: SCIENCE FAIR FIASCO

It’s science fair season at Marie Curie Middle School, and four rival girls are working hard on their projects to win first place and bragging rights for an entire year. It’s fierce competition on the day, and just before the winner is announced, the fair is gatecrashed by Doctor Proctor, an evil scientist shunned by academia for his radical views and unethical practices. He steals the girls’ projects to use them in his menacing schemes, turning their innovative experiments into something sinister.

Each of the girls decides to track down Doctor Proctor and retrieve their stolen projects before it’s too late, but none of them manage to do it alone. It’s only when the girls resolve their differences and see each other as friends and allies instead of rivals that they can collectivize and use their smarts to take down Doctor Proctor once and for all.

Having saved the day, the girls return to the fair. With their projects ruined for the greater good they all lose out on winning first place, but it’s their newfound friendship that’s the real prize. It’s only the beginning for the ATOM Girls, and they have many adventures ahead of them.

•    Cut-out membership cards, making the readers ATOM Girls, too.

•    Collectors’ cards featuring history’s most notable women in STEM.

•    A short message added to the end of each book from real women working in STEM today, telling the kids what their job is, why they love their field, and how they got into it.
